Documents for the Digital Nomad residence permit
1. Main applicant — the digital nomad
Personal documents
- a completed Digital Nomad residence permit application form;
- a valid passport;
- a copy of the passport's personal-details page;
- a colour photo, 3.5 × 4.5 cm;
- health insurance valid across the Schengen area;
- a certificate of no criminal record, no older than three months;
- an apostille on the certificate of no criminal record.
Proof of income
The main applicant must show a monthly income of at least twice the average net salary in Slovenia.
The approximate minimum is €3,390.68 per month — 2 average monthly salaries according to the Statistical Office of Slovenia.
The exact figure must be recalculated right before filing.
Proof of professional activity
Employment or a service contract
- a valid employment or service contract with a company registered outside Slovenia;
- a current extract or other official document confirming the company's registration;
- the company's registration and tax numbers;
- bank statements showing salary or fee payments.
The contract must state: its term, the amount of pay, and that the work can be carried out remotely using digital technology.
Sole trader or self-employed
- a current extract from the business/sole-trader register in your country;
- bank statements for the business account;
- statements for a personal account, if business income is paid into it;
- a description of the activity confirming it is carried out remotely.
It's best to provide activity documents and bank statements covering 6–12 months.
2. Family members joining you
Each family member files a separate family-reunification residence permit application.
For every family member
- a completed family-reunification residence permit application form;
- a valid passport;
- a copy of the passport's personal-details page;
- a colour photo, 3.5 × 4.5 cm;
- health insurance valid across the Schengen area.
Additionally for a spouse
- a marriage certificate with an apostille;
- a certificate of no criminal record, no older than three months, with an apostille.
Additionally for each child
- a birth certificate with an apostille.
Keeping civil-status documents current
To confirm your family status is current, there are two options:
- obtain freshly reissued marriage and birth certificates and have them apostilled;
- use existing apostilled certificates and additionally obtain a certificate confirming the marriage is still valid, and one confirming each child's status.
Proof of funds for the family
The main applicant must show income covering not just themselves but also each family member joining them. As of 10 August 2026:
