A €50,000 investment in a Slovenian company for employment and a residence permit
Opening a d.o.o., planning the investment, proving the company is active and obtaining a single residence and work permit — without waiting six months from registration.
Important: a €50,000 investment is not the purchase of a residence permit. The permit is issued only after the company, the applicant, the employment and the other legal requirements have been checked.

A new company
The route applies if the employer has been registered for less than six months.
An investment of €50,000+
The funds go into the activity in which the applicant will work.
Permit and work
Once the conditions are met, the application for the single work permit is filed.
Who the €50,000 investment option suits
Where the investment can go
The requirement is not simply to put money into an account, but to invest the funds in the activity in which the applicant will work. Depending on the project this can be:
- production equipment, machinery and specialised machines;
- office and professional equipment;
- vehicles used for the business;
- software and licences, server and IT infrastructure;
- fitting out retail or warehouse premises;
- real estate or investment in the company's premises.
What does NOT count as proof
The following is not accepted as proof of investment:
- a cash balance in a bank account that is not used;
- a transfer of funds by the founder with no further use;
- a formal capital increase with no investment in the activity;
- loans not used for the business, and personal purchases by the founder;
- artificial or refundable payments, expenses with no contracts or invoices.
The d.o.o. share capital (€7,500) is a separate requirement and does not replace the €50,000 investment.
How the process runs
Investment plan
We draw up a list of expenses and check how they relate to the future activity.
Registering the d.o.o.
Tax number, company registration, share capital, bank account.
Making the investments
The company signs contracts, pays for the assets and obtains supporting documents.
Checking the evidence
We check the amount, dates, payment purposes and how it is recorded in the accounts.
Common mistakes when investing
- Expenses made before the project structure was worked out
- Assets bought not by the company; payments made from a personal account with no documentation
- The investment is not connected with the company's stated activity
- Documents do not confirm payment; the assets cannot be identified
- The investment amount is below €50,000, or it was made after the application was filed
- The application was filed after the six-month period from the company's registration had passed
Moving the family: you can apply for reunification with a spouse and minor children after 1 year of lawful residence in Slovenia (Art. 47 of the Aliens Act). The investment on its own does not give the right to immediate reunification.
